While Swedish furniture giant IKEA is known for making you walk away with everything you didn’t think you needed before setting foot there, well it seems it has a new string to its bow by improvising birthday party organizer.
It is on TikTok that the mother of the main 3-year-old interested party, whose name is Lucy, unveiled this initiative as unusual as it is adorable. The little girl is such a fan of the furniture store that her mother decided to please her by organizing a surprise birthday party at the IKEA store in Tampa, Florida (USA).
Specially dressed for the occasion, the adorable little girl was dressed in blue and yellow, the brand’s emblematic colors while a store employee waited for her at the entrance to give her her name badge. She then went to a fully decorated room where all her friends were waiting for her, also dressed accordingly.
And what would a birthday be without entertainment? All the guests and the star of the day then embarked on a treasure hunt on the shelves of the store, before everyone came together to taste the cake. At the end of the day, the children left with gift bags filled with toys while their parents were treated to gift cards to spend in the store.
The perfect opportunity to (re)share this idea ofIKEA who had recruited all the customers who wore a yellow t-shirt for a day.
In just a month, the video recap of this sweet moment that was shared by Lucy’s mother on her TikTok account has almost 1 million views. In addition to having put stars in the eyes of this little girl, IKEA is offering a nice communication boost with this original operation which suggests that it feels like home. Moreover, many adults did not fail to react after seeing the video not without a hint of jealousy.
