The delicious new collection of sneakers from YUMS

Some of the best creative attempts come from the most unlikely inspirations. In the case of legendary street artist Tex Molton, the vibrant colors and sweet, spicy and savory flavors of Mexican street food have resulted in a collection of absolutely rock sneakers for men and women. Yes, where we would see a belly-filling dish, Tex’s off-the-beaten-track mind ventured into shoes. And the results? Simply appetizing.

Tex Moton, designer of YUMS sneakers.

Of course, Tex has always had a penchant for the faraway. The creative director of YUMS (meaning: do you get my style?) founded his groundbreaking streetwear company after a meteoric career in street art. Not one to stay within the lines, Tex (appropriately from Dallas, Texas, where the company is based) wanted to disrupt the streetwear industry — and to say he did is an understatement.

YUMS elote sneaker collection 1 review - It's Luxe Time

A fusion of shoes + flavors

As any (!) ingenious artist would do, Tex combined his two passions: food and shoes. And of course, living in the heart of Tex-Mex, there was no shortage of muses:

Of course, delicacies like sunny yellow corn, buttery fried chicken, salsa and creamy avocado are ubiquitous in Texas restaurants and street vendors, serving not only to tantalise Tex’s taste buds, but also to nurture his artistic affinity. And so, the unlikely but inventive fusion was born.
