Maison Francis Kurkdjian is involved in the creation of a garden at the Palace of Versailles.

Joined the luxury group LVMH in 2017, the perfumery house is investing in the development of a vast floral space. Located on the Trianon estate, it will bring together hundreds of species.

The Perfumer’s Garden.

Until then closed to the public, the orangery of Châteauneuf, located in the park of Versailles, will welcome visitors from next spring within its Perfumer’s Garden.

Supported by the house of Francis Kurkdjian under the aegis of the eponymous perfumer and Marc Chaya, president and co-founder, this unique place aims to discover plants selected for their fragrant particularities. Here, the species presented will be able to stand out by the subtlety of their scent as well as by their ability to diffuse bad smells, or even their total absence of fragrance, like so-called “dumb” flowers.

The initiative will also give rise to a journey retracing the history of perfume at the court of Versailles since the 17the century.

If this patronage is intended to give both experiential and heritage visibility to the house, it also intends to highlight the links that unite Versailles and Francis Kurkdjian, also Director of Perfume Creation at Dior since last year. Trained at the Versailles school of perfumery, the latter had indeed reinterpreted the perfume of Marie-Antoinette, “Queen’s Wake”, from archival documents before initiating several olfactory experiments in the gardens of the castle.
